WandaVision: Live And In Color! – Episode 3 Review and Recap

The mystery intensifies on WandaVision episode three! But I’m getting ahead of myself! The episode starts off with a catchy, 70s inspired theme tune courtesy of Kristen Andersen -Lopez (Frozen).

At the end of the last episode, we find out that Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) is pregnant. Episode three picks up where episode two left off with the doctor making a house call. We’re told that she is four months pregnant. This is hard news for Vision (Paul Bettany) to digest since it’s only been twelve hours since finding out about the pregnancy.

After seeing the doctor out and greeting his neighbor Herb (who’s trimming his boarder wall with hedge clippers!?), Vision heads back inside to find Wanda bigger than she was before.

I’m digging the 70s look!

Vision tries his best to calculate when the baby is due, but even his computer brain is no match for Wanda’s accelerated pregnancy.

Wanda’s pregnancy is a great source for comedy in the episode. It interferes with her powers and creates unpredictable chaos. This chaos not only affects the Visions but also the entire neighborhood in the form of a power outage and burst pipes. (But once again I find myself Speeding along).

During the power outage, Wanda worries that Westview will discover their secret. Meanwhile, Vision begins putting together the strange events of the first three episodes so far, and Wanda puts a stop to his questions and by blinking and rewinding time like she did in the last episode.

My favorite scene is when they’re preparing the nursery, and they argue over what the baby’s name will be with Billy and Tommy being the two options. (It’s a fun name drop for comic fans!)

Another favorite scene was when Vision was timing how fast he could change a diaper using a doll to practice on.

Wanda goes into labor days before Vision predicted. Bringing her pregnancy to a grand total of twenty-four hours! Vision makes a quick dash for the doctor, and Geraldine (Teyonah Parris) pops in for a surprise visit.

The mysterious side of WandaVision really amps up once Geraldine arrives. Wanda’a labor continues and her magic is out of control. Geraldine helps deliver the baby. (Excellent acting by Elizabeth by the way! Her screaming and facial expressions were perfect!)

Vision returns and is disappointed to have missed everything, but he shouldn’t have worried! Wanda goes into labor a second time, and we get to see two future Young Avengers on screen for the first time!!!!!

Wanda tells Geraldine that she’s a twin named Pietro. This is the first time he’s mentioned since Age of Ultron. Geraldine shocks Wanda by asking if Pietro was killed by Ultron. This upsets Wanda so much that her mood visibly and drastically changes. She wonders, and we wonder as well, how Geraldine could possibly know anything about Wanda’s past!

While this is going on, Vision is outside with questions of his own. He spots the neighbor whispering and moves closer to listen in. They seem nervous and anxious about something. Agnes (Katheryn Hahn) asks if Geraldine is with Wanda. It’s revealed that this mystery woman has no family, home, and doesn’t really belong anywhere.

Cut back to inside where Wanda spots Geraldine’s necklace and demands to know who she is. Geraldine can’t answer. Either because she genuinely doesn’t know, or because she does know but is sworn to secrecy. Maybe both?

We keep switching back and forth from Wanda’s situation and Vision’s. The feeling that something’s not right continues to grow. The neighbors and Geraldine are increasingly nervous. It’s like everyone is walking on eggshells. They either can’t ask questions or share information about what’s going on. We just don’t know why.

Wanda gets downright scary, and sends Geraldine away by magically expelling her from the sitcom reality bubble. Geraldine finds herself in the real world surrounded by vans and helicopters. Leaving us to wonder exactly what is going on?!

This episode left me with more questions than answers. Hopefully, there will be more answers next episode. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get my next review out in a more timely manner!
