‘The Whole World Is Watching’ and ‘Truth’ Falcon and Winter Soldier Episode 4 and 5 Review.

Since both episodes four and five are so long, I’m combining the reviews and talking about some of my favorite moments from both episodes.

Episode Four

Episode four came. Episode four went. It was the best of the episodes so far to be released. Since the episodes are growing longer, I’ll be highlighting my favorite moments throughout the episode.

I honestly could go on for half of forever about the Wakanda flashback scene! It was incredible! The tears streaming down Bucky’s face when he realized he was finally free of Hydra’s programming was a powerful, emotional moment. Sebastian Stan deserves all the awards for his brilliant acting during this scene! I’m getting emotional just thinking about it!

Since Ayo (Florence Kasumba)was the one to deprogram Winter Soldier, it’s understandable why she feels angry and even betrayed by Bucky breaking Zemo (Daniel Brühl) out of prison. He was the guy that killed Wakanda’s king after all! She tells Bucky that he has eight hours left to use Zemo before the Dora Milaje come for him.

While on the hunt for Donya Madani, Zemo gets his intel on where her funeral will be from a young girl. He uses Turkish Delight in exchange for the information bringing to mind the famous scene in The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe where the White Witch does the same thing to get information from Edmund.

Several conversations are had over the course of the episode. One the most interesting ones occurs between Sam (Anthony Mackie) and Zemo is all in favor of killing Karli Morganthau citing her role as a supremacist as a good reason for murder (Erin Kellyman), but Sam thinks that there’s some good inside of her and wants to try to talk with her. His determination to see and try to find the good in someone like Karli is proof of Steve making the right choice for his Captain America replacement.

My favorite action scene was when the Dora Milaje come to collect Zemo. The fight was EPIC! John Walker (Wyatt Russell) got his butt handed to him on a silver platter by Ayo and it was everything I wanted to see! Who better to take down Mr. Cocky Arragnt Bigshot than Ayo? I loved how Zemo, Bucky, and Sam just stood around and watched. Bucky can’t help himself and says, “looking strong John!” as he’s losing the fight with the Dora Milaje. I thought that was the funniest moment of the episode!

Another memorable moment is when during a fight scene near the end, Karli kills Battlestar (Clé Bennet) She runs away. John takes off after the wrong Flagsmasher and kills him with Steve’s shield in front of everyone. In doing so, revealing that he is not worthy of the Captain America title.

In this episode, it was hard to distinguish between who was the hero and who was the villain. Especially when it came to Zemo and Walker. Walker is supposed to be hero, but acts more like a villain with passing episode. Killing someone in cold blood definitely didn’t score him any hero points! Meanwhile, Zemo is a villain who can’t be trusted, but I found him more likable than the guy who’s supposed to be the hero! I especially liked when he smashed all the super soldier serum so it couldn’t be used! Zemo > Walker any day of the week!

Episode 5

The opening fight scene where Sam and Bucky take the shield from John Walker was amazingly EPIC and one of the best in the series to date.

During the fight, John rips Sam’s wings off. Sam takes them to Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez) for repair and leaves the wings behind in favor of Cap’s shield. This paves the way for Torres to become the next Falcon like in the comics.

Another fun moment is watching Walker lose out on hero status when the government removes him as Captain America! IT’S WHAT HE DESERVES!

Julia Louis-Dreyfus made an interesting cameo appearance as Countess Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. It sounds like she’ll have a major part to play in the MCU moving forward. I thought her scene was great and look forward to seeing her in the future. I personally have no idea who this character is, but here’s an interesting article that goes into great detail about this new character:

Bucky heads to Sokovia to wrap things up with Zemo, and Sam goes off for another visit with Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly).

Isaiah is understandably angry and bitter about how horribly he was treated by the government as a super soldier. His feelings are valid. He doesn’t think the world will let a black man be Captain America. I have to agree with Sam’s point of view though. The world has changed enough that it can handle having a black Cap. Plus, Steve, a white man, clearly felt like Sam was the best choice as his successor!

I enjoyed the scenes where Bucky and Sam were working together to fix the Wilson Family boat. It was fun! And could Sarah (Adepero Oduye) be a potential love interest for Bucky? I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

I can understand why there’s theories about Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) being the Power Broker. I wouldn’t be surprised AT ALL if it turns out to be true! Something is definitely going on with her.

Sam’s nephews playing with the shield was super cute!

Sam gives Bucky a Captain America-esque pep talk about doing the work to move on from his Winter Soldier past. Steve would’ve approved.

My favorite sequence of the episode was watching Sam train. That’s my Captain America!

He’s looking at his costume. I bet you anything!

There was an end credits scene of John Walker making his own shield. It’s sad and pathetic, but also a little funny at how desperate he is to hold onto the title of Captain America!

I can’t believe there’s only one more episode left! It comes out tomorrow, so we don’t have long to see how it all ends!
