Moon Knight and Werewolf By Night Reviews**

** First appeared on 2¢ Movie Reviews

Ulysses Bloodstone has died. His death brings the monster hunters together to pay their last respects and for one last hunt to see who will inherit the blood stone and the supernatural power it grants to the one who possesses it. It’ll be a hunt to the death, a bloody one at that, and what the hunters don’t know is that there’s already a monster in their midst.

This is Marvel’s second official foray into the horror genre after Multiverse of Madness and dipping its toes in the shallow end with WandaVision. I normally stay as far away from the genre. It’s not my thing. No thank you. I don’t do scary movies. But Marvel’s expansion into the supernatural and Monsterverse have made it impossible to stay away completely.
Gael Garcia Bernal shines bright as Jack Russell/Werewolf By Night, and I need to see more of this character and actor immediately. I loved the relationship he had with Elsa Bloodstone (Laura Donnelly) and need to see more of that as well. Does it turn romantic? I need to know! And I need to know now!

This special is in black and white, paying homage to horror movies of the 30s and 40s. It’s creepy and dark. Violent and bloody. More bloody than is typical of the MCU while still managing to stay within the confines of a TV-14 rating. There’s violent action scenes. A ritual involving the bloodstone and an incantation is performed to force Jack to turn into a werewolf before the full moon, and then the violence gets turned up a couple notches. It’s bloody. There’s blood spatters on the walls and dripping on the camera lens. Jack bites a guard’s ear off. Blood gushes. Someone loses their head. A couple of people get incinerated by Man-Thing who makes an impressive cameo appearance. I grimaced. My mouth dropped open. I didn’t keep a straight face for most of the 54-minute special. If it had been in color instead of black and white, I wouldn’t have been able to watch. It’s too bad my mom wasn’t here to see it. And despite all that, I enjoyed it. A lot. I wish it’d been a little darker, but then it would’ve earned a TV-MA rating. The only crime I thought this special committed was that it was too short! Congratulations, Marvel, you got me on board with monsters! Normally, I wouldn’t say Marvel isn’t for kids anyway, but this special is especially not. This bit of fun is for the teens and adults. I look forward to seeing these characters again and to seeing what else Marvel can achieve through their Special Presentations. You can stream Werewolf By Night on Disney Plus.

Steven Grant (Oscar Issac) lives a simple life as a clerk in an Egyptian History Museum gift shop. Strange unexplainable things start to happen like hearing voices and blacking out and waking up surrounded by dead bodies with no idea what happened. He discovers that he has Dissociative Identity Disorder and is the host body of Mark Spector and also the avatar of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu serving justice as the deity sees fit as his Moon Knight
Mark and Steven must learn to work together along with Mark’s wife Layla (May Calamawy)to save the world from Ammit’s version of justice by defeating the goddess her and her avatar Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke). Mark and Steven learn more about their origin in the process. PS. It’s heartbreaking.

This show was awesome and my second favorite MCU show behind WandaVision. It’s the most violent MCU show to date and it’s darkest pushing the boundaries of a TV-14 Rating. It’s super fun if you’re into Egyptian mythology and religion. It’s really violent. People get shot and stabbed. There’s hand to hand combat. It’s bloody and you get to watch someone being mummified alive and having an organ removed (I felt a little queasy). There’s a bunch of language with Shit being heard the most along with hell, damn, misuses of God’s name and a partial f-bomb.

As a Christian, I came away from the series with a sense of thankfulness that God doesn’t handle justice the way that the Egyptian gods do. That the God we serve is merciful when we don’t deserve it while the Egyptian ones are cutthroat and ruthless. For example Ammit hands out justice before a crime is ever committed. I’m so glad God isn’t like that or we’d all be in trouble! There’s a devotional in there somewhere I think I’ll write one.

The Supernatural side of the MCU is being built out nicely and I can’t wait to see what’s next! I’d love to see a season 2 in the future. You can stream it now on Disney Plus.

‘The Whole World Is Watching’ and ‘Truth’ Falcon and Winter Soldier Episode 4 and 5 Review.

Since both episodes four and five are so long, I’m combining the reviews and talking about some of my favorite moments from both episodes.

Episode Four

~

Episode four came. Episode four went. It was the best of the episodes so far to be released. Since the episodes are growing longer, I’ll be highlighting my favorite moments throughout the episode.

I honestly could go on for half of forever about the Wakanda flashback scene! It was incredible! The tears streaming down Bucky’s face when he realized he was finally free of Hydra’s programming was a powerful, emotional moment. Sebastian Stan deserves all the awards for his brilliant acting during this scene! I’m getting emotional just thinking about it!

Since Ayo (Florence Kasumba)was the one to deprogram Winter Soldier, it’s understandable why she feels angry and even betrayed by Bucky breaking Zemo (Daniel Brühl) out of prison. He was the guy that killed Wakanda’s king after all! She tells Bucky that he has eight hours left to use Zemo before the Dora Milaje come for him.

While on the hunt for Donya Madani, Zemo gets his intel on where her funeral will be from a young girl. He uses Turkish Delight in exchange for the information bringing to mind the famous scene in The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe where the White Witch does the same thing to get information from Edmund.

Several conversations are had over the course of the episode. One the most interesting ones occurs between Sam (Anthony Mackie) and Zemo is all in favor of killing Karli Morganthau citing her role as a supremacist as a good reason for murder (Erin Kellyman), but Sam thinks that there’s some good inside of her and wants to try to talk with her. His determination to see and try to find the good in someone like Karli is proof of Steve making the right choice for his Captain America replacement.

My favorite action scene was when the Dora Milaje come to collect Zemo. The fight was EPIC! John Walker (Wyatt Russell) got his butt handed to him on a silver platter by Ayo and it was everything I wanted to see! Who better to take down Mr. Cocky Arragnt Bigshot than Ayo? I loved how Zemo, Bucky, and Sam just stood around and watched. Bucky can’t help himself and says, “looking strong John!” as he’s losing the fight with the Dora Milaje. I thought that was the funniest moment of the episode!

Another memorable moment is when during a fight scene near the end, Karli kills Battlestar (Clé Bennet) She runs away. John takes off after the wrong Flagsmasher and kills him with Steve’s shield in front of everyone. In doing so, revealing that he is not worthy of the Captain America title.

In this episode, it was hard to distinguish between who was the hero and who was the villain. Especially when it came to Zemo and Walker. Walker is supposed to be hero, but acts more like a villain with passing episode. Killing someone in cold blood definitely didn’t score him any hero points! Meanwhile, Zemo is a villain who can’t be trusted, but I found him more likable than the guy who’s supposed to be the hero! I especially liked when he smashed all the super soldier serum so it couldn’t be used! Zemo > Walker any day of the week!

Episode 5

~
The opening fight scene where Sam and Bucky take the shield from John Walker was amazingly EPIC and one of the best in the series to date.

During the fight, John rips Sam’s wings off. Sam takes them to Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez) for repair and leaves the wings behind in favor of Cap’s shield. This paves the way for Torres to become the next Falcon like in the comics.

Another fun moment is watching Walker lose out on hero status when the government removes him as Captain America! IT’S WHAT HE DESERVES!

Julia Louis-Dreyfus made an interesting cameo appearance as Countess Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. It sounds like she’ll have a major part to play in the MCU moving forward. I thought her scene was great and look forward to seeing her in the future. I personally have no idea who this character is, but here’s an interesting article that goes into great detail about this new character:

https://www.marvel.com/characters/valentina-allegra-de-fontaine

Bucky heads to Sokovia to wrap things up with Zemo, and Sam goes off for another visit with Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly).

Isaiah is understandably angry and bitter about how horribly he was treated by the government as a super soldier. His feelings are valid. He doesn’t think the world will let a black man be Captain America. I have to agree with Sam’s point of view though. The world has changed enough that it can handle having a black Cap. Plus, Steve, a white man, clearly felt like Sam was the best choice as his successor!

I enjoyed the scenes where Bucky and Sam were working together to fix the Wilson Family boat. It was fun! And could Sarah (Adepero Oduye) be a potential love interest for Bucky? I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

I can understand why there’s theories about Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) being the Power Broker. I wouldn’t be surprised AT ALL if it turns out to be true! Something is definitely going on with her.

Sam’s nephews playing with the shield was super cute!

Sam gives Bucky a Captain America-esque pep talk about doing the work to move on from his Winter Soldier past. Steve would’ve approved.

My favorite sequence of the episode was watching Sam train. That’s my Captain America!

He’s looking at his costume. I bet you anything!

There was an end credits scene of John Walker making his own shield. It’s sad and pathetic, but also a little funny at how desperate he is to hold onto the title of Captain America!

I can’t believe there’s only one more episode left! It comes out tomorrow, so we don’t have long to see how it all ends!

‘Loki’ and FAWS Rumors

Marvel News

*************

During an interview with Hey U Guys, Tom Holland had this to say about his recent meeting with Sony and Marvel:

“I know everything now. (About what’s happening in SpiderMan 3) I had my big pitch meeting with Marvel and Sony about two weeks ago and I know all the secrets. But I’ve also done about a thousand interviews so I know how not to spoil a movie anymore. ”

Yeah, right! I’ll believe it when I don’t hear any spoilers!

According to GWW, Moon Knight is expected to start filming in mid-November in Atlanta, Georgia. Filming will take place at Pinewood Studios, and Murphy’s Multiverse has said that some filming is rumored to take place in the UK.

@ProdWeek has reported that Spider-Man 3 will film under the working title Serenity Now.

According to Knight Edge Media, Marvel is looking for an “Alison Brie type” of actress to play She-Hulk.

Murphy’s Multiverse has heard that some scenes for Thor: Love and Thunder may be filmed in Vancouver.

The above source also heard that some of Falcon and Winter Soldier plot may need to be reworked. Apparently, part of the story revolved around some sort of pandemic similar to what’s currently going on with the Corona Virus. So as not to copy current events, they might reshoot some scenes.

Hawkeye is rumored to start filming late September.

She-Hulk is expected to start filming sometime in November. MCU Cosmic has reported that Mark Ruffalo has had “preliminary talks” about appearing in the series.

@DanielRPK has shared that Wiz Kid, a Mutant character, will appear in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

“Otherwise known as Takeshi Matsuya, Wiz Kid is a computer genius confined to a wheelchair who has the mutant ability of technoform where he can create machinery with his mind.”

(Source: MCU Cosmic)

Since the character is wheelchair-bound, I hope they get a disabled actor to play him. This could be great representation for the disabled community if Marvel plays their cards right!

Sebastian Stan posted this picture on his Instagram:

Several sources including MCU Cosmic and GWW are speculating that Clé Bennett (Center) will be playing Battlestar in Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Bleeding Cool has reported that the Squadron Supreme will show up in the Loki series. The Squadron Supreme is Marvel’s version of DC’s Justice League.

The more rumors come out, the more interested I have become toward the Loki series.

THR reported that Chris Evans is in talks for the role of “dentist Orin Scrivello, Audrey’s abusive and sadistic boyfriend, who finds great pleasure in his chosen profession. The role is flashy (the character loves to use laughing gas) and comes with the scene-stealing signature song, “Dentist!” Scarlett Johansson is rumored to be playing the aforementioned Audrey.

If talks go well, Cap and Nat could be reunited onscreen.

THR has reported that Michael Rooker has joined the cast of the Showtime pilot The President is Missing.

“Rooker will play the government agent tasked with protecting the vice president (David Oyelowo) in the adaptation of James Patterson and Bill Clinton’s mega-selling novel. He joins a cast that also includes Janet McTeer, Medina Senghore, Paul Adelstein and Gina Gallego.”

You can read the show’s synopsis below:

“The drama centers on Oyelowo’s James Martin, the powerless and politically aimless vice president of the United States. When he unexpectedly becomes president halfway through his administration’s first term, he walks right into a secret, world-threatening crisis both inside and outside the White House. Attacked on all sides, with scandal and conspiracy swirling around him, he has to choose whether to keep his head down, toe the party line and survive or act on his stubborn, late-developing conscience and take a stand.

Rooker will play Greg Parkes, the special agent in charge of the vice presidential detail. The impossible task of protecting Martin has proved more than a warrior like Parkes can bear.”

Backstage.com reported that Tom Hiddleston’s Netflix series White Stork has been given the green light. Casting has begun, and the series will begin filming this Summer in London.

That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading!

Transgender Superhero Rumors

A post shared by Tom Hiddleston (@twhiddleston) on

An interesting rumor resurfaced this week about the Loki series. According to The Illuminerdi, Marvel is looking to cast a transgender actress for the role of their first major trans superhero Sera. Geek Worldwide were the first to break the rumor months ago. It was speculated that she’d make her first appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder, but now The Illuminerdi has said that Sera is set to appear in the first season of Loki. .

“The role is being described as a major supporting character set to appear not only on the series but possibly in future MCU movies as well.”

So an appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder doesn’t sound like it’s out of the question.

For more on who Sera is, click here:

Loki Set To Debut Sera, Marvel’s First Trans Character, In Season One: EXCLUSIVE

MCU Exchange has speculated that this could mean the introduction of Sera’s wife and Thor and Loki’s half-sister Angela. Plus they could be planning to do something with the Tenth Realm AKA Heven  in the MCU.

Murphy’s Multiverse has reported a rumor about who could potentially be playing Sera, but at this point, it’s merely speculation. The best I can tell you is the actress’s name is Anjelica Ross. She may or may not be playing Sera. The role is currently unknown. Marvel was looking for male actors as well as female actors for this role. Since Sera is a trans-female, and they were looking at guys as well, they could be casting for a completely different role altogether.

Charles does a far better job of explaining this rumor better than I could ever sum up. Here’s his article for a better explanation:

What I Heard This Week: ‘LOKI’

Comicbook.com reported that Owen Wilson has been cast in a “key role”, but it’s currently unknown who he’ll be playing.

MCU Cosmic reported that Marvel plans to introduce another Valkyrie, Mist, in the near future.

This is MY speculation AKA not based in factual reporting!

What if Mist turns out to be the love interest for Valkyrie in Thor: Love and Thunder? It’ll be interesting to come back later and see if I was close.

Another interesting bit from the same source is that a character named Ripper of the Hellbent will debut in the Moon Knight Disney+ series.

For more information on the character, here’s a link to the article:

Ripper of The Hellbent May Appear in Moon Knight

Murphy’s Multiverse reported that Emily Blunt met with Marvel to discuss a role in an upcoming film.

The Illuminerdi were able to confirm that Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) will return in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Murphy’s Multiverse reported that Marvel is still looking for their Ms. Marvel. There are currently no frontrunners for the role.

The same source also reported that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will introduce MI-6 agents Leiko Wu, Clive Reston, and Black Jack Tarr. For more information, you can go here:

EXCLUSIVE: ‘SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS’ Confirmed to Introduce MI-6 Characters Leiko Wu, Clive Reston and Black Jack Tarr

MCU Cosmic reported that Rick Jones, human sidekick to several of the Avengers will be coming to the MCU. Where or when he’ll show up is not known.

The Illuminerdi has reported that Clea will make her debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

1. They are looking for an actress somewhere in the 20s-40s age range.

2. The actress they cast needs to have “leading lady qualities.”

MCU Cosmic has reported that different versions of already established characters will appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
