Kevin Feige has been everywhere in press promoting Spider-Man: Far From Home. Here’s a run-down on what he’s been saying and the sources where the interviews can be found:
Avengers: Endgame will be re-released in theaters with additional footage. (Comicbook.com)
It will be released on June 28th. “There will be a version going into theaters… with a few new things… If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute and a few surprises.” (Screenrant)
And speaking of the Endgame re-release, a poster has been released.
He has confirmed previously reported rumors that Marvel has been talking to Keanu Reeves saying, “We talk to him for almost every film we make,” Feige laughed. “We talk to Keanu Reeves about. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”
In typical Feige fashion, he confirmed without actually confirming that Black Widow would be a prequel saying, “There’s a method to the madness… “There’s always a method and doing things in an unexpected way is something we find fun. There are ways to do prequels that are less informative or answer questions you didn’t necessarily have, and then there are ways to do prequels where you learn all sorts of things you never knew before.”
He also compared the film to Better Call Saul, the Breaking Bad prequel:
“I look at Better Call Saul as a wonderful example of a prequel that almost completely stands on its own apart from Breaking Bad because it informs you about so many things you didn’t know about before,” Feige explains. “So time will tell which way we’ve gone with a supposed Black Widow movie.”
He had this to say about Spider-Man showing up in Venom’s universe:
“I think probably it’s up to Sony. Sony has both those characters and, has Venom in their world. I don’t know what their plans are for another Venom or if they’re doing that. But it seems likely at some point.” (Cinemablend)
He has also confirmed that Marvel has begun brainstorming the integration of the Fox characters like X-Men and Fantastic Four:
“It’s still early days, but it’s been a fun exercise, and it’s one, by the way, that we’ve been doing for years. Every development meeting starts with cool ideas and fun ideas, and our wheels are always turning in terms of what if… to use a Marvel publishing term. What if we did this? What if we did that? What if we had access to such and such characters? That’s how Spider-Man: Homecoming came together in the first place, and it’s fun to now be in this position with the Fox characters, too, because if we come up with a great “What If” we can actually do it.”
A couple new posters for Spider-Man: Far From Home have been released.
Funko will release two MCU SDCC Exclusive pops on July 19th.
According to IMDB Pro, Shang-Chi is officially in Pre-Production.
That Hashtag Show has reported that Marvel is currently searching for their Shang-Chi. They’re interested in talking with Ludi Lin (Power Rangers, Aquaman and Black Mirror) and maybe Ross Butler (K.C. Undercover) for the role. The search has just started, and no one has been cast yet! More names are expected to be added to the list in the coming weeks.
It’s also been reported that Marvel is interested in Hong Kong actor Donnie Yen for a currently unknown role.
Shang-Chi is expected to begin filming in early November.
Variety reported that Ray Winstone has joined Black Widow in a currently unknown role.
Sony Producer Amy Pascal talked with Fandango about all things Spider-Man:
1. Tom Hardy will be returning for the Venom sequel.
2. Spider-Verse 2 will continue Miles Morales’ story; the focus will be on him.
3. Miles can still show up in live-action films.
4. She has big plans for Tom Holland to be a part of all things Spider-Man.
Deadline reported that Marvel will be making their return to Hall H at San Diego Comic Con where it is 99.99% certain that they will finally reveal their Phase 4 slate.
During a gala at the Gene Siskel Film Center, the writer of Ironheart, Eve Ewing, introduced Robert Downy Jr. to the audience. He then said that Ironheart should join the MCU.
