First Look At Marvel Shows Revealed!

Marvel News

Last week’s Super Bowl included a few treats for Marvel fans. We got a Black Widow TV Spot and a first look at the three Disney Plus shows coming out soon. We knew we were getting a peek at footage from Falcon and Winter Soldier and WandaVision, but I don’t think anyone was expecting a few seconds of Loki footage at the end! You can watch both TV spots below:

Black Widow:

Disney Plus:

MCU Cosmic noticed several things in the above spot:

1. Loki is wearing a uniform with the letters TVA on it. These letters stand for Time Variance Authority. According to the site,  “That’s an organization who monitors alternate timelines in the Multiverse and will “prune” those they deem to dangerous to exist.”

So it looks like Loki got in a butt-load of trouble with the Time Variance  and is now serving time for his crimes.

2. The several seconds of WandaVision confirmed several rumors that were previously reported:

1. Wanda and Visions twins, Billy and Tommy, will be in the series.

2. They will grow up fast over a short time period.

3. The show will be influenced by sitcoms from the 50s through the 90s.

Several Black Widow character posters and the official synopsis  were also released:

“In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.”
Another poster for New Mutants has been released:

MCU Cosmic reported that Clint Barton’s brother Barney AKA the antihero Trickshot and the Tracksuit Draculas AKA the Tracksuit Mafia. These characters appear in the Matt Fraction Hawkeye comics.
I’ve read a bunch of those and really enjoyed them. I know it’s a small complaint, but the Tracksuit Mafia overused the word, “Bro, ” which got annoying after a while. So maybe spice up their dialogue by throwing in a few “Dudes” to mix it up! 😂
Gemma Chan confirmed via Instagram that Eternals has finished filming.
Disney had their earnings call this week. During the call, Bob Iger confirmed/announced  a couple of things.
1. Falcon and Winter Soldier will stream in August. WandaVision was confirmed for December.
2. There are 7 Disney Plus Marvel  shows in various stages of development.

reported that Sam Raimi is “in talks” with Marvel about directing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Former director Scott Derrickson tweeted his support of the news:
47660952-363E-418F-A931-53CDC765AB4ECredit: MCU Direct
Variety also stated that Rachel McAdams will not be returning as Doctor Christine Palmer in the sequel.
The Illuminerdi reported that Kraven the Hunter could be showing up in the MCU soon.  For more information, check out their article:
They also reported that Christian Bale will be playing an alien villain in Thor: Love and Thunder. He hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet, but is said to have a lead role in the movie. His character isn’t known but is described by Marvel Studios as “otherworldly.”
MCU Cosmic reported that Marvel is still looking for their Kate Bishop. Their first choice is Hailee Steinfeld. But because of potential scheduling conflicts with Hawkeye and her Apple TV+ series Dickensian, they need to have a second option just in case their first doesn’t work out.
The same source has also reported that Marvel wants to use Crossbones in the future and are discussing how they can do that. Crossbones first appeared in and  died in Captain America: Civil War. It’s kinda hard to use a character that’s dead! But as Marvel and DC have proven, nothing is impossible in the realm of comic book cinema.

A BTS look at Pixar’s Onward has been released:
THR reported that Chris Pratt will be starring in a new conspiracy  thriller TV series The Terminal List.
Here’s the synopsis:
“The Terminal List follows Reece (Pratt) after his entire platoon of Navy SEALs is ambushed during a high-stakes covert mission. As he returns home with conflicting memories of the event and questions about culpability, new evidence comes to light when he discovers dark forces working against him.”
The show doesn’t have a network yet. It’s also a potential multiple season show, not a limited series.
Deadline reported that Tom Hiddleston will star in a new Political Thriller Netflix series White Stork. The show will have ten episodes, and there’s no word on when it’ll premiere. Here’s the synopsis:
“When James Cooper (Hiddleston) is selected to run for a seat in parliament, Asher Millan is sent to vet him for primetime. But she quickly uncovers potentially damaging secrets buried deep in James’ past. Secrets that will threaten to blow everything apart – his career, his marriage, even the powerful people backing his campaign.”
During Lionsgate’s earnings call, it was announced that Tom Holland’s movie Chaos Walking will be released in theaters on January 22, 2021.
The first trailer for Saw: Spiral starring Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson has been released:

Just Jared released several BTS photos of Falcon and Winter Soldier:

Here is a photo from Just Jared of Kit Harrington and Gemma Chan filming for Eternals:

Deadline reported Kevin Feige is in early talks with ABC about doing another show after Agents of Shield ends.

While at the TCAs, ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke had this to say about it:

“We love our partners at Marvel and we’re sad to see [Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D] go, it’s been a big part of our history. We’re looking forward to working with Kevin Feige and we’re at the very beginning of conversations with him now about what a Marvel and ABC show might look like. Right now, Marvel’s focus has been on Disney+, as it should be.”

Variety reported that Scott Derrickson, Director of Doctor Strange, unfortunately won’t be returning to direct Doctor  Strange in the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences.” Marvel released this statement:

“Marvel Studios and Scott Derrickson have amicably parted ways on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. We remain grateful to Scott for his contributions to the MCU.”

DiscussingFilm reported that Marvel is looking for African American and female actors to play villains in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

MCUCosmic reported that Morbius will reference MCU’s Spider-Man. There’s also been rumors that J. Jonah Jameson will make an appearance.

In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Victoria Alonso has said that Marvel won’t use CGI to resurrect dead actors.

I think this is a good plan because I don’t think a computer could ever or replace an actual person!

Collider reported that Christian Bale is “in talks” to star in Thor: Love and Thunder in an unknown role.

Bat-Man invading the MCU. Could this end the Marvel vs. DC debate and unite the fandoms. Or will it only make the devision between fandoms worse? Only time will tell.

Murphy’s Multiverse reported that Marvel is looking for British child actors, one boy and one girl. Charles speculates that they could be looking for an actor to play Kid Loki. Here are the casting descriptions:

Male, 10 years old, British, Open Ethnicity, smart and brave with a sharp wit and life experience beyond his years…RECURRING

Female, 10 years old, British, Caucasian, in tears over a frightening situation, she relies on her intelligence and resilience to find a way out.

There’s also a casting call for professional wrestlers or actors with fighting experience for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. For speculation as to why, you can find more information here:

Another ‘SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS’ Casting Call May Give Further Support to the “Tournament” Leak

In an interview with The Wrap, David Harbour describes his character, Red Guardian, in Black Widow as “the Captain America of his day for Russia. And he was the great hope of Russia, in a certain sense.”

He also said that Red Guardian was ”a bit of a father figure” for Natasha.

One of my favorite scoopers, Daniel Richtman has said that Moon Knight is expected to start filming this August.

Marvel Studios Executive Vice President of Production Victoria Alonso had this to say to Cinemablend about the future of Stan Lee’s MCU cameos:

“Stan Lee is not replaceable. So we will never try. That is the legend, the man, we will never try to replace him. Other people will come around, and then you have someone as phenomenally creative as [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige, but there’s only one Stan Lee.”

Good! I’m sad that this era is over, but they’re right about Stan being irreplaceable. I’m glad that they’re not even trying!

Marvel has announced that we will be getting a “Special Look” at Black Widow during the college national football championship on January 13.

Murphy’s Multiverse reported that Marvel is currently casting ring announcers for Shang-Chi. This could confirm a film plot leak. If this proves true, the link to the article I’m about to share with you could be super spoilerly. Proceed with caution:

EXCLUSIVE: SHANG-CHI Casting For Ring Announcers; Could Support Longstanding Tournament “Leak”

When the Christmas filming break for Falcon and Winter Soldier begins again, production will move to the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico.

Producer Matt Tolmach told IGN there’s a possibility of Venom 2 being rated R “now that we know it works for superhero movies.”

There will be a special on ABC called Celebrating Marvel’s  Stan Lee that will air on December 20 at 8:00 PM EST.

Two small scoops from Murphy’s Multiverse came out regarding WandaVision:

1. Josh Stamberg has joined the WandaVision cast as an FBI agent.

2. Two locations have recently been used for WandaVision filming, the Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, Georgia and Starr’s Mill High School in Fayetteville, Georgia.
