Marvel News

Here are more BTS photos from Falcon and Winter Soldier from Just Jared:

In an Instagram Q&A James Gunn said that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will not start filming for a “year or so.”

Marvel Studios Executive Vice President of Production Victoria Alonso had this to say to Cinemablend about the future of Stan Lee’s MCU cameos:

“Stan Lee is not replaceable. So we will never try. That is the legend, the man, we will never try to replace him. Other people will come around, and then you have someone as phenomenally creative as [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige, but there’s only one Stan Lee.”

Good! I’m sad that this era is over, but they’re right about Stan being irreplaceable. I’m glad that they’re not even trying!

Marvel has announced that we will be getting a “Special Look” at Black Widow during the college national football championship on January 13.

Murphy’s Multiverse reported that Marvel is currently casting ring announcers for Shang-Chi. This could confirm a film plot leak. If this proves true, the link to the article I’m about to share with you could be super spoilerly. Proceed with caution:

EXCLUSIVE: SHANG-CHI Casting For Ring Announcers; Could Support Longstanding Tournament “Leak”

When the Christmas filming break for Falcon and Winter Soldier begins again, production will move to the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico.

Due to a photo from Twitter user, Luke Hatcher seems to confirm that part of Falcon and Winter Soldier will take place on the fictional island of Madripoor, a location tied with the X-Men and Wolverine. Hmmm…

To see the photo, you can go here:

Scooper Daniel Ritchman shared via his Patreon that Tom Holland is “in talks” for a cameo in Venom 2.

There’s a rumor which cannot currently be confirmed about WandaVision courtesy of Murphy’s Multiverse:

An actress, Shelia Knox, took to Twitter to announce her being cast in the show. She also tweeted “Doomstadt in Helen! (Georgia). Doomstadt is the birthplace of Victor Von Doom. Hmmm. Planting seeds. Maybe?

‘WandaVision’ Rumors

Marvel News

Avengers: Endgame was nominated for 3 Critics Choice Awards including a nomination for Special Effects.

MCUCosmic reported that Captain Marvel and Endgame topped Google’s movie searches for 2019.
According to @skylershuler Loki will be filming under the name “ARCHITECT”. And according to Murphy’s Multiverse, Loki will begin filming on February first at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia.

It’s official! The Hollywood Reporter announced that Marvel TV is being folded into Marvel Studios which means that Marvel Studios will have full control over television projects moving forward. This includes Helstrom which was planned for Hulu. Unfortunately this means that at least twelve people will lose their jobs.

Murphy’s Multiverse reported that Desmond Chaim and Miki Ishikawa have joined the cast of Falcon and Winter Soldier in currently unknown roles.

During an Instagram Q&A, James Gunn had this to say about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3:

“The script will change because my scripts always keep changing up until the moment I shoot them. But it won’t change according to anything from Endgame, because I already knew what was in that script before I wrote Guardians 3.”

(Original Source: ComicBookMovie)

This is another rumor brought to you by Murphy’s Multiverse. This information couldn’t be confirmed with a second source, but I thought it’d be interesting to share.

Benedict Cumberbatch is rumored to appear in WandaVision as Dr. Strange. If true, he’d appear in the last episode of the show. It’s rumored that he will be on set for the final week of filming.

While this is just a rumor, it’s one that makes sense as Kevin Feige has stated in previous interviews that WandaVision will tie into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

There’s also a rumor about Falcon and Winter Soldier. Zola is rumored to appear. Charles Murphy speculates that it could be Jet Zola, Arnim Zola’s daughter, instead of the Arnim Zola of the Captain America franchise.

For more on Jet Zola, you can go here:

MCUCosmic has reported a rumor about who the gay hero in Eternals could be. The original poster on Box Office Theory had this to say about the character in question:

“We see Phastos, with civil costumes, in the company of two childrens and another guy, holding hands.”

The Hall H Marvel SDCC panel has come and gone leaving frenzied Marvel Fans in its wake. Here’s a breakdown of all the exciting news!

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

1. It will be directed by Daniel Destin Cretton.

2. Will star Chinese-Canadian actor Simu Liu as Shang-Chi. He was just cast Tuesday and had a screen-test on Sunday. Marvel’s not messing around when it comes to this new franchise!

3. The real Mandarin will be introduced and will be played by Tony Leung.

4. Awkwafina has been cast in an unknown role.

5. It will hit theaters on February 12, 2021.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Daniel Bruhl will be reprising his role as Baron Zemo. Some footage was shown. Here’s a description of that footage from the guys over at TotalFilm:

“It begins with the code words that active Winter Soldier, and Baron Zemo sits into frame wearing a coat, looking ragged with a beard. He says he’s hijacked the panel, says, “Gentlemen, I’ll be seeing you very soon,” and then puts on the purple mask that the classic version of the character wears and the video goes haywire.”

It will premiere on Disney + in Fall 2020.

The Eternals

1. It will be directed by Chloe Zhou.

2. A basic summary and plot was revealed:

The Eternals will be about “super-powered and near-immortal beings known as Eternals and a more monstrous off-shoot known as the Deviants that were created by the cosmic beings called Celestials.” (SDCC quote)

“These cosmic characters have spent 35,000 years on Earth, so they’ve already been part of the MCU this whole time, and we just didn’t know it yet. They’re a race of immortal aliens who have been sent by the Celestials to protect Earth from a race of humanoids known as The Deviants.” (TotalFilm quote)

3. The cast was introduced:

Salma Hayek as Ajak, the leader of the Eternals.

Richard Madden as Ikaris.

Angelina Jolie as Thena.

Don Lee as Gilgamesh.

Lia McHugh as Sprite.

Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo.

Brian Tyree Henry as Phasto.

Lauren Ridloff, a deaf actress to play Makkari, a deaf character. A first for the Marvel  Cinematic Universe.

4.  It will hit theaters on November 6, 2020.

Black Widow

1. Some footage was shown during the panel. Here’s a description of that footage once again from TotalFilm:

“Glimpses of Natasha’s past come flooding in the teaser, flashing through the her assassin academy memories from Avengers: Age of Ultron. “I made a family,” Natasha opines, as the footage leads into her turn in Captain America: Civil War, when she made a decision to let Captain America escape instead of capturing him. “They’re coming for you,” Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) warns, as she flees…setting the stage for Black Widow, which seemingly takes place after the events of Captain America: Civil War.

In Budapest, Natasha cautiously makes her way up an old, turn-of-the-century apartment building with a lavish staircase but weathered walls. Entering an apartment she points her gun and calls for Yelena, saying, “We’re grown-ups here.” Florence Pugh’s Yelena appears from around the corner, pointing her gun. They stand mere inches apart, guns in each other’s faces for several seconds before they both disarm each other, the camera showing their graceful parallel movements — obviously students of the same school. The grimy, tactile fight is reminiscent of the Bournefilms, especially in its low light and intense close-ups. Finding their usual tactics too well-matched, their fight gets nasty and brutal, with Natasha pushing Yelena’s head down a sink and Yelena breaking a plate over Natasha’s head, and eventually resorting to knives. They find themselves at several impasses, until both of them have placed each other in chokeholds with the apartment’s curtains. After a cut to black, they’re shown having drinks.

“It’s good to see you too,” Natasha says, handing Yelena a shot glass.

The teaser leads into several car chases, with Natasha weaving in and out of Eastern European streets. We get quick shots of solemn, Brutalist imagery and foreboding silhouettes.”I got rid of my ledger,” Natasha declares, though it seems like she hasn’t completely been rid of her past. The teaser closes out with Natasha getting pinned behind a flaming car on a bridge, with hooded man attacking her in the middle of the street. The hooded uniform and its sleek design with red lining resembles that of Taskmaster, a Marvel villain that has recently been rumored to appear in Black Widow. But who is under the suit?”

2. It’s directed by Cate Shortland.

3. The cast includes:

Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow.

David Harbour as Alexei aka The Red Guardian.

Florence Pugh as Yelena, “A sister figure to Natasha.”

O.T. Fagbenle as Mason, “an old contact of Natasha’s before she worked with SHIELD, and a potential love interest.”

Rachel Weisz as Melina, “a pretty tough chick,” aka Iron Maiden.

4. It will be released on May 1, 2020.

5. The film isn’t a prequel after all, but will take place after Civil War when Natasha is a “fully realized woman.”

1. Events take place after Endgame.

2. Elizabeth Olsen says, “It’s going to get weird, we’re going to get deep. We’re finally going to understand Wanda Maximoff as the Scarlet Witch.”

Paul Bettany says, “I have no idea, ” (on what’s going on with Vision). “It’s going to be surprising and weird.”

Kevin Feige describes the show as “exciting and different and strange.”

3. WandaVision will tie in directly with the Doctor Strange sequel, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness as Wanda will have a main role to play in that film. More about that in a minute.

4. Teyonah Parris will play the adult version of Monica Rambeau who was introduced as a child in Captain Marvel.

5. It will be released on Disney + in Spring 2021.

1. Tom Hiddleston will be returning as Loki. He will be playing the 2012 version of the character and all of his character development through Ragnarok will be erased. The series will begin after Loki takes the Tesseract and disappears through the portal to gods know who’s where.

2. Tom says, “Just about the last thing that happened to him was he got Hulk smashed. So there’s a lot of pyshclogical evolution that is still yet to happen. Kevin has generously showed me what his plans are. It’s one of the most exciting creative opportunities I’ve come across. This is new territory, a new world, new challenges I can’t wait to get started.”

3. It will be released in Spring 2021.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

1. It will be directed by Scott Derrickson.

2. According to Scott, it will be “the first scary MCU film.” Also known as the first horror movie in the MCU.

3.  Benedict Cumberbatch described it as “a crazy line into horror. “He’ll be facing unexpected things… (He will) not knowing what’s coming at him.”

4. Nightmare will be the villain.

5. Scarlet Witch will have a major role to play in the film.

6. It will be released on May 7, 2021.

What If?

1. What If? is the first animated MCU show.

2. Jeffery Wright will play The Watcher, the host of the show.

3. Many MCU stars will return to voice the animated versions of their characters.

4. The show will be available to stream on Disney+ in Summer 2021.

1. Jeremy Renner will return as Hawkeye. Part of the show will focus on him training the next Hawkeye, Kate Bishop.

2. Hawkeye’s time as Ronin will also be explored in the series.

3. The series will most likely draw from the Matt Fraction run of the comic series.

4. The synopsis from the supposed source material reads as follows:

“It’s Marvel’s most critically acclaimed comic in recent memory! Clint Barton, breakout star of a little Marvel movie you might have seen a while back, continues his fight for justice…and good rooftop BBQs! With Young Avenger Kate Bishop by his side, he’s out to get some downtime from being one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes…but when the apartment building he’s moved into, and the neighbors he’s befriended, are threatened by a tracksuit-wearing, dog-abusing gang of Eastern European mobsters who say “bro” an awful lot, Clint must stand up and defend his new adopted family…any way he can.”

5. The show will be available to stream on Disney+ in Fall 2021.

Thor: Love and Thunder

1. Taika Waititi will return to write and direct.

2. Chris Hemsworth will return as Thor.

3. Tessa Thompson will be returning as Valkyrie, the king of Asgard. And she will be looking for her queen. Tessa says,

“That’ll be her first order of business. And then, I don’t know. It’s already been mentioned that Asgard isn’t a place but a people, so she’s got to invest in her people. And hopefully she’ll get some love and thunder.”

4. Natalie Portman will be returning as Jane Foster, and will be portraying a female Thor. Just like in Jason Aaron’s The Mighty Thor run! Taika Waititi had this to say about the development:

“When we were shooting Ragnarok I was reading one storyline by Jason Aaron, the Mighty Thor. And for those of you who know that storyline, it’s incredible and introduced love and thunder and for the first time, female Thor.”

5. It will release in theaters on November 5, 2021.

Before Marvel’s panel wrapped up, Kevin Feige announced that Mahershala Ali had been cast as Blade. Details other than that are not yet known.

Other projects in development include Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Fantastic 4, and Mutants will be introduced at some point, though how they’ll be introduced isn’t known.

Last night the complete Phase 4 slate was revealed. In an interview with Collider, Kevin Feige had this to say, “It is the complete Phase Four the way I announced the complete Phase Three five years ago—things can move, things can change as they did if you go back and look at what we talked about five years ago for Phase Three, but we’ve been working on this for quite a while and it’s pretty set. But there are always changes possible.”

There are some empty dates remaining for the MCU including:

February 18, 2022

May 6, 2022

July 29, 2022

It’s being speculated that more announcements will come next month during D23.

What are you looking forward to most? Personally, I’m looking forward to WandaVision, Thor: Love and Thunder, Loki, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. I’m also really looking forward to proper disability representation in the MCU.

That’s all. Like it wasn’t enough?! As always, I look forward to hyping up these films with my friends over on our Facebook page My Marvelous Escape.
