Marvel News

Kevin Feige has been everywhere in press promoting Spider-Man: Far From Home. Here’s a run-down on what he’s been saying and the sources where the interviews can be found:

Avengers: Endgame will be re-released in theaters with additional footage. (

It will be released on June 28th. “There will be a version going into theaters…  with a few new things… If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute and a few surprises.” (Screenrant)

And speaking of the Endgame re-release, a poster has been released.

He has confirmed previously reported rumors that Marvel has been talking to Keanu Reeves saying, “We talk to him for almost every film we make,” Feige laughed. “We talk to Keanu Reeves about. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”

In typical Feige fashion, he confirmed without actually confirming that Black Widow would be a prequel saying, “There’s a method to the madness… “There’s always a method and doing things in an unexpected way is something we find fun. There are ways to do prequels that are less informative or answer questions you didn’t necessarily have, and then there are ways to do prequels where you learn all sorts of things you never knew before.”

He also compared the film to Better Call Saul, the Breaking Bad prequel:

“I look at Better Call Saul as a wonderful example of a prequel that almost completely stands on its own apart from Breaking Bad because it informs you about so many things you didn’t know about before,” Feige explains. “So time will tell which way we’ve gone with a supposed Black Widow movie.”

He had this to say about Spider-Man showing up in Venom’s universe:

“I think probably it’s up to Sony. Sony has both those characters and, has Venom in their world. I don’t know what their plans are for another Venom or if they’re doing that. But it seems likely at some point.” (Cinemablend)

He has also confirmed  that Marvel has begun brainstorming the integration of the Fox characters like X-Men and Fantastic Four:

“It’s still early days, but it’s been a fun exercise, and it’s one, by the way, that we’ve been doing for years. Every development meeting starts with cool ideas and fun ideas, and our wheels are always turning in terms of what if… to use a Marvel publishing term. What if we did this? What if we did that? What if we had access to such and such characters? That’s how Spider-Man: Homecoming came together in the first place, and it’s fun to now be in this position with the Fox characters, too, because if we come up with a great “What If” we can actually do it.”

A couple new posters for Spider-Man: Far From Home have been released.

Funko will release two MCU SDCC Exclusive pops on July 19th.

According to IMDB Pro, Shang-Chi is officially in Pre-Production.

That Hashtag Show has reported that Marvel is currently searching for their Shang-Chi. They’re interested in talking with Ludi Lin (Power Rangers, Aquaman and Black Mirror) and maybe  Ross Butler (K.C. Undercover) for the role. The search has just started, and no one has been cast yet! More names are expected to be added to the list in the coming weeks.

It’s also been reported that Marvel is interested in Hong Kong actor Donnie Yen for a currently unknown role.

Shang-Chi is expected to begin filming in early November.

Variety reported that Ray Winstone has joined Black Widow in a currently unknown role.

Sony Producer Amy Pascal talked with Fandango about all things Spider-Man:

2. Spider-Verse 2 will continue Miles Morales’ story; the focus will be on him.

3. Miles can still show up in live-action films.

4. She has big plans for Tom Holland to be a part of all things Spider-Man.

Deadline reported that Marvel will be making their return to Hall H at San Diego Comic Con where it is 99.99% certain that they will finally reveal their Phase 4 slate.

During a gala at the Gene Siskel Film Center, the writer of Ironheart, Eve Ewing, introduced Robert Downy Jr. to the audience. He then said that Ironheart should join the MCU.

Rumors Of the Marvelous Kind

This week was full of exciting rumors and news about future Marvel projects.  It makes me excited about the future of the franchise and I hope that all of these things will eventually come to fruition.

HN Entertainment reported that Marvel is considering a movie for the team known as The Ultimates. The comics team is comprised of Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Spectrum, Miss America, and Blue Marvel. Carol Danvers, T’challa, and a young Monica Rambeau (Spectrum) have already been introduced.

I haven’t been into the comics side of Marvel for real long and know nothing about Blue Marvel, but I have read Miss America and would love to see America Chavez on screen. And if we’re getting Kate Bishop in the Hawkeye Disney+ series, it would be a great idea to introduce America either as Kate’s fellow Young Avenger or an Ultimate because I really want to see Kate and America’s friendship onscreen. Please, Marvel Studios, and thank you.

They are also considering movies and TV shows set in alternate timelines. I would love a show centered around Steve and Peggy living out their lives together and working as SHIELD agents. Or maybe a domestic sitcom about Tony and Pepper raising Morgan. A timeline where Tony continues to mentor Peter and trains Harley Keener as his replacement.

The ever-mysterious @RogerWardell has popped up again with an interesting Spider-Man rumor that contradicts what was previously reported.

According to Roger (if that’s his real name!) has tweeted that Deadpool will not show up in Spider-Man 3, but that “desperately wants Tom Hardy’s Venom.”

I would love to see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man go up against Venom! I think it’d be awesome! I really hope this pans out! But it will be awhile for the obvious reason that the sequel hasn’t been released yet!

He has also said that Marvel is interested in The Walking Dead’s David Morrissey “and are considering him for multiple roles in Phase 4.

MCU Cosmic shared a rumor that according to a “reliable source” a Power Pack TV show or movie is in “active development.” Power Pack consists of Alex, Julie, Katie, and Jack Power, a group of preteen superheroes. As someone with young cousins who enjoy superheroes, it would be wonderful to have an age-appropriate team of superheroes for younger viewers.

According to DiscussingFilm, there are plans to introduce Sentry into the MCU. Their article on Sentry was an interesting read and they do a far better job talking about the character than I could ever summarize for you here:

Marvel News

During an interview with Variety, Chris Hemsworth had this to say about Thor’s future in the MCU:

But considering how things ended for Thor in Endgame and with continuous rumors about Thor 4, I’m not about it. I’m positive we’ll get more god of Thunder in the future.

Charles Murphy from Murphy’s Law podcast revealed that Shang-Chi will begin filming in Australia in the fall and that casting is now underway.

Geeks Worldwide reported two character breakdowns. One is for a “wise, old statesman,” who is “the leader of his people.” They’re looking for an an Asian actor between 40-60 years of age.

The second description is “one of the leader’s most skilled warriors.” They’re looking for an Asian actress in her thirties or forties for the role. Here’s who they speculate who the character could be in regards to Shang-Chi:0D442E0A-AB18-45D9-872C-9C6525BF90C4

MCU Cosmic reported a rumor that there could be a Glyph TV show. “Glyph (aka Nadeen Hassan) is a teenager with the ability to summon ancient Egyptian spirits who first appeared in the Howling Commandos comic in 2015.” I’m intrigued!
