‘We Interrupt This Program’ WandaVision Episode 4 Recap and Review

In WandaVision’s fourth episode we finally get some answers to what is going on! First off, the events of this show are set immediately after Endgame! We get our official introduction to adult Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and find out that she was one of the victims of Thanos’ snap. She reappears in a chair by an empty hospital bed.

She goes to find someone to ask where her mom, Maria, has gone, only to be told that Maria died from Cancer three years earlier. (Marvel, how could you!?) Monica’s confused, and doesn’t realize that there’s five years missing from her life. (Thank you, Thanos!)

We also get our first official look at S.W.O.R.D which was founded by Maria. ❤️

Monica is a Captain (Walking in her mom’s footsteps!❤️)and works for S.W.O.R.D. She reports for work and is told by Director Hayward (Josh Stamberg) that she is grounded citing her mother’s policy on the reappearance of missing persons as the reason. She is assigned to collaborate on a missing person case with FBI Agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park).

He learned the card trick! Scott would be proud.

Jimmy is working on a missing person case; the only problem being that the town he’s supposed to be investigating doesn’t actually exist! The missing person case has turned into a missing town case. There’s a force field surrounding where the town is supposed to be, and it won’t let anyone from the outside in! This scene gives the audience two answers to questions from episode two:

  1. The colored toy helicopter that Wanda finds in the bushes is a S.W.O.R.D. drone Monica used to investigate that got sucked into Sitcom Land.
  2. Monica gets sucked in by the force field and is forced to play along as Wanda’s neighbor Geraldine.

Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) arrives on the scene. This is her first appearance in the MCU since Thor: The Dark World. Not much has changed since we last saw her except now she’s a Dr. in Astral Physics.

Darcy discovers Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation mixed with a broadcast frequency, picks up on picture of Wanda and Vision in Black and White, and asks for an old TV set.

She settles in for the three episodes of WandaVision that the outside world has previously enjoyed. It’s revealed that Vision is dead in the real world, and we find out that Darcy’s the one adjusting the control board at the end of episode one. (I thought it was someone more nefarious.)

A S.W.O.R.D. Agent is sent through the sewers into to town to investigate Monica’s disappearance. He wanders too far and gets sucked into Westview. His hazmat suit changes to a beekeeper suit therefore providing the answer for the “beekeeper” who crawls up through the Manhole in episode two.

Darcy and the team analyze the episodes to identify the missing townspeople. They end up with as many questions as the audience like Why sitcoms? And why does Monica have to play along as Geraldine?

Darcy suggests that Jimmy try to contact Wanda through the radio seen on the table in episode two. This confirmed earlier fan speculation that Jimmy’s voice was coming through the radio in one of the original trailers for the show.

While watching the 70s themed episode, Darcy discovers that part of the episode is missing.
The episode switches from the real world back to the sitcom world where we left off in episode 3. We finally get an answer to how Monica reappears in the real world.

Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) questions Geraldine about Ultron, she gets increasingly upset. She feels threatened and uses her powers to expel Monica from the sitcom universe. She puts the hole in the universe back together, and Vision comes back in from his strange conversation with the neighbors.

Wanda is shocked/scared(?) to see Vision (Paul Bettany) ashen with the hole in his head left by Thanos. Vision sees that Wanda is upset and offers to leave Westview and take her wherever she wants.

Zombie Viz

Wanda insists that they can’t leave, she has everything under control. This is a world of Wanda’s own making. This seems to confirm that Vision is really dead.

This episode was fun. I loved seeing Darcy again! And it was fun to see the Darcy and Agent Woo team-up! The only problem I had was that it was a Wanda and Vision lite episode. The episode also provided several answers to earlier questions, but it also left me with more questions. While the episode does seem to confirm Vision is actually dead, is he really? Can he be brought back in some way outside of the sitcom universe? Is Wanda really in control of the situation, or is someone else pulling the strings? There’s five episodes left. Hopefully, that’s enough time to provide those answers.

WandaVision will debut on Disney Plus on January 15, 2021.

Murphy’s Multiverse revealed that WandaVision will receive a Behind the Scenes Gallery series similar to what Star Wars did with The Mandalorian. I hope this means we eventually get a Behind the Scenes look at Loki and Falcon and Winter Soldier as well.

Small Screen has reported that Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man will make a cameo appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Andrew Garfield is in talks to reprise his Spidey as well. If this true, perhaps rumors of a live action Spiderverse movie are true too.

Ryan Reynolds will reportedly be making his MCU debut as Deadpool in the Doctor Strange sequel as well.

Charles Murphy, of Murphy’s Multiverse, has reported that Ms. Marvel has started filming in Atlanta.

As of November 13th, Loki has 4-5 weeks of filming left according to Executive Vice President Victoria Alonso.

Murphy’s Multiverse has reported that Clint Barton will be going deaf during the Hawkeye show.

According to a casting notice, “They are actively looking for a middle-aged Chinese audiologist, who works in a rundown building and is off-the-books.”

This is something that fans have wanted to see happen for a long time. Now it seems like is finally happening.

Chris Pratt has confirmed that he’ll be reprising his role as Star Lord in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Rumors

***********

According to Daniel Richtman, Ryan Reynolds wants to spend more time out of the Deadpool mask in future MCU Projects.

It’s been rumored by Geekosity’s Mikey Sutton that Iron Fist will make his MCU debut in Shang-Chi 2. Finn Jones is unlikely to return as Iron Fist:

Shang-Chi 2 is looking increasingly like the movie for Iron Fist to make his cinematic debut. The chances of Finn Jones reprising the role are dim, though. According to my sources, Kevin Feige was not particularly impressed with Netflix’ Iron Fist. Out of all the Defenders series on Netflix, it certainly had the most polarized response by the fans and the critics weren’t exactly knocked out, either. Limited in budget and lacking in the intense and believable fight choreography to pull it off, Iron Fist simply didn’t fulfill its potential.

That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading!

According to some digging from Murphy’s Multiverse, WandaVision appears to be premiering this Thanksgiving weekend! You can check out the source codes here:

And also they’ve heard that Darcy will be the one to reconstruct Vision during the series though when these two meet up is unclear.

I can’t wait to see Darcy again. She was one of my favorite Thor characters. I’m so glad she’s back!

Murphy’s Multiverse was on fire this week with the scoops! Marvel is looking to cast to major supporting characters in Ms. Marvel including Kamala’s friend Zoe Zimmer and her future sister in law Tyesha Hillman.

They are looking for a white actress aged between 16-20 and a black actress aged 27-33 respectively.

I am so excited for this series. I really loved the comics and hope the series does them justice.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw confirmed that filming for Loki has restarted.

“I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF FILMING WHEN THE PANDEMIC HAPPENED, SO I HAD A REAL BREAK, I’VE BEEN PAINTING AND READING. LIKE SO MANY OTHERS, I WAS AT HOME FOR A LONG TIME,” SHE SAID. “NOT TO MAKE LIGHT OF THE SUFFERING GOING ON, BUT IN SOME WAYS, IT HAS BEEN AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ME TO GET A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON THINGS. IT IS DOWNTIME THAT PERHAPS I MIGHT NOT HAVE HAD, AND NOW I’M THANKFUL TO BE BACK TO WORK. IT’S BEEN A JOURNEY FOR EVERYONE, BUT IT’S ALL FOR A GREATER REASON AND THE GREATER GOOD.”

The first trailer for Hulu’s Helstrom was released:

According to MCU Direct, Marvel is looking to cast two major supporting characters for MoonKnight, possibly MoonKnight’s best friend Jean-Paul Duchamp:

20-40 (YEARS OLD), WHITE MALE. A STEREOTYPICAL GOOD LOOKING, OVERLY ENTHUSIASTIC, LESS INTELLIGENT THAN AVERAGE BUT STILL LOVABLE. ACTOR MUST BE FLUENT IN FRENCH.

And his love interest Marlene Alraune:

20-35 (YEARS OLD), ALL ETHNICITIES, FEMALE. A MANIPULATIVE OPERATIVE IN A SECRET ORGANIZATION, CAPABLE OF GOING FROM COOL AND TOUGH TO WARM AND FRIENDLY IN A HEARTBEAT.

According to Murphy’s Law podcast, MoonKnight has been cast, but it hasn’t been announced yet.

Variety reported that Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his role as Nick Fury in Disney Plus series. The unnamed show already has a writer, Kyle Bradstreet of Robot Chicken fame, will write and executive produce the series. It’s being speculated that it could be a S.W.O.R.D. series or a New Warriors series.

That’s all for this week! Thanks for reading.
